Growing pains and restless leg syndrome can both result in lower limb pain in children that impacts on sleep and wellbeing. In this study, we reviewed the literature and explored the assessments, diagnostic criteria, and outcome measures commonly used for these two conditions. There was limited consistency in how growing pains was diagnosed, as well as wide ranging and often disparate assessments used by researchers and clinicians. Outcomes of interventions were also scarcely measured. These results will form the basis of further development of clinical practice recommendations.
